The Boys' Brigade
The Boys’ Brigade in Singapore is a uniformed youth organisation that seeks to nurture Youths, based on Christian values, to serve and lead. Through various programmes and meaningful activities, and with Volunteer Adult Leaders (VALs) as role models and mentors, we guide our BB members in the learning of important values and build character. Executive (Programmes)
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Executive to join our team in the Programmes Department. The role involves creating, developing and executing national-level events and activities for some 5,500 members in over 100 BB Companies across the nation. We drive national policies and rally over 900 volunteers to deliver programmes of the highest standards. We update curriculum and training methods, as well as offer support to assigned volunteer committees in our endeavour to spearhead leading programmes at a national-level.
Reporting to the Department Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with volunteers, serve as secretariat to volunteer committees, and ensure that national-level events offer meaningful learning outcomes for our BB members.
The staff will therefore need to:
• Organise national-level events, competitions and award presentations
• Organise national training and courses for Boys and Officers
• Ensure curriculum/badgework content is relevant, appealing and well-resourced for all levels of membership
• Develop new content for both in-person and virtual programmes/activities for BB members
• Identify and engage new programme partners/providers to enhance programme offerings
• Organise national-level events, competitions and award presentations
• Organise national training and courses for Boys and Officers
• Work with and support volunteers
• Motivate BB Companies to strive towards excellence in utilising the BB Programme to develop children and youths
Requirements:
• Diploma or Degree from a recognised polytechnic / university
• Appreciation of youth trends and developments
• Good interpersonal, communication and organising skills
• Able to work independently but also a team player working towards shared goals
• Willing to put in extra time to work with volunteers on some evenings and Saturdays
• Have an excellent command of English, both written and spoken
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, videoconference and e-learning tools
EXECUTIVE (PROJECTS)
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Executive to join our team in the Projects Department. The role involves planning, organising, and executing national-level community service and engagement programmes that bring together members, stakeholders, and volunteers to bless communities across Singapore. The Executive will also be responsible for supporting various national events such as award presentations and appreciation ceremonies.
Reporting
to the Department Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with
volunteers, serve as secretariat to volunteer committees, and ensure that
community projects offer meaningful learning outcomes for our members.
The
staff will therefore need to:
- Plan, organise
and execute national-level community service and engagement projects that
are impactful and relevant
- Ensure that
members develop skills, character, and values through active service
- Engage and
manage stakeholders including project sponsors, partner organisations,
volunteer groups, and members of the public
- Explore and
propose new service avenues that are timely, relevant, and beneficial to
the community
- Organise
national training courses and workshops to equip Boys and Officers with
the skills for effective community service
- Support and
collaborate with volunteers and serve as secretariat to volunteer
committees, ensuring efficient coordination and communication
- Assist in the
planning and execution of national-level events, including award
presentations and appreciation programmes
Requirements:
- Diploma or
Degree from a recognised polytechnic / university
- 2–3 years of
experience in community engagement, volunteer management, or programme
coordination is advantageous
- Strong
organisational and project management skills, with the ability to handle
multiple concurrent projects
- Excellent
written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder engagement
and report writing
- Confident in engaging diverse groups of people – from youth members to corporate sponsors
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; basic design or communication skills (e.g., Canva, newsletters) can be a plus
Executive Assistant
Responsibilities:
This staff works with the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director to support them in their work surrounding board matters, volunteer management, and secretarial support to various committees. He or she also helps to coordinate and overcome logistical challenges, helping to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
The staff will therefore need to:
• Assist in drafting reports, presentations and papers for the board
• Schedule and organise meetings, providing secretarial support
• Manage volunteer database
• Organise and maintain files and databases in a confidential manner
• Prepare and mail outgoing correspondence
• Manage communication including emails and phone calls
• Organise and administrate events and programmes
Requirements:
• Diploma from a recognised polytechnic
• Meticulous and organised
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to work independently but also a team player working towards shared goals
• Willing to put in extra time to work with volunteers on some evenings and Saturdays
• Have an excellent command of English, both written and spoken
• Have good knowledge of computer software such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint
