How can we apply for badges?

You can use the Form 32A for all badge applications except Founder’s Award and National Youth Achievement Award.

The Form 32A can be downloaded here.

Guidelines for Use of Form 32A

Each form should be used for application for a badge for Boys from one batch only and is applicable for Stages 1 to 3 of the same badge.

For core awards at stages 2 and 3, endorsement on the Form 32A must be made by Brigade Office. The Form 32A should be accompanied by a Certification Form signed by the Captain and Conducting Officer. Download Certification Form
here.

The Senior Proficiency Award is also to be endorsed by Brigade Office.

Apart from the above, Form 32As may be signed by Captains of the company.

After endorsement by the relevant authorities, you can proceed to
BB Shop to make your award purchases.

What do I need to bring to Brigade Office for endorsement of Form 32A?

You will need to bring the duly-completed Form 32A, with the result sheet endorsed by the Company Captain, Course Instructor or Brigade letter (for Brigade-level courses). A sample of the certification form that may be used is available here.

A sample test paper is also required to be attached for badges with theory component.

What events are considered as national events in order to qualify for the National Event badge?

According to the Seniors Programme Handbook (Feb 2005), participation in the following events qualify Boys for the National Event badge:

  1. Singapore National Day Parade
  2. Singapore Youth Festival Opening Ceremony Parade
  3. National Camp - biennial camp for uniformed groups
  4. Any national event approved by the Brigade Executive - these would be events involving participation with other UGs at the national level, e.g. Camp Temasek IV.

How does the in-lieu requirements for National Event badge for Founder's Award application work?

The National Event badge is a pre-requisite for the Founder's Award. However, due to limited places for national events, the in-lieu (in place of) requirements for National Event badge was introduced. This was documented in the Seniors Programme Circular 02-2004 dated 25 Oct 2004.

Fulfillment of the in-lieu requirements does not qualify the Boy for the National Event badge. It does replace the attainment of the National Event badge as a requirement for the Founder's Award.

To fulfill these requirements, a Boy must successfully participate in and complete 3 out of 5 of the following National Education programmes:

-Civil Defence Course conducted by the Singapore Civil Defence Force - qualifying the Boy for the Fireman badge

-Anti-Drug Abuse Course conducted by the Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association - qualifying the Boy for SANA badge

-Heritage Course conducted at Company level - qualifying the Boy for Heritage badge

-Energy Experience Programme conducted by SP Services - qualifying the Boy for Energy Conservation badge (also see http://services.spservices.sg/cs_eec_eep.asp?ID=&identity)

-Remembrance Day Ceremony in November each year coordinated by Brigade Office

These programme (apart from the Remembrance Day Ceremony) can be arranged by Companies with the respective agencies and need not be restricted to Brigade-coordinated courses.

Founder's Award application should be accompanied by the relevant result slips, certificates of participation or Brigade Office certifying letters.
