J M Fraser Award for Excellence

 

This award is named after the Founder of The Boys’ Brigade in Singapore, Mr James Milner Fraser, CBE, who was an architect from Britain and a former member of the 23rd Aberdeen and 33rd London Companies. Mr J M Fraser started the 1st Singapore Company on 12 January 1930 at Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church. He was also the first Brigade President from 1936 to 1955, making him the longest serving Brigade President in the history of The Boys’ Brigade in Singapore. It is therefore, a fitting tribute to his dedication to the Brigade that this award for excellence should be named after him. It is hoped that this award’s synonymy with his distinguished name will spur companies towards excellence in the areas of Company life and work.

Desired Outcomes
Through this J M Fraser Award for Excellence, we hope to achieve the following outcomes:

1. Companies will be motivated to work towards excellence in the areas of Company life & work.

2. BB will contribute towards the school’s attainment of the MOE Sustained Achievement Award.
3. There will be cohesiveness and synergy within clusters.

J M Fraser Niche Awards

 

From the year 2009, BB Companies can vie for the following categories of awards:

1	Character Development Excellence Award
2	Innovative Sports & Adventure Programme Award
3	Performing Arts Excellence Award
4	Local Community Development Excellence Award
5	Overseas Community Development Excellence Award

 

To qualify, Companies must have also fulfilled the following requirements:

 

1.	Had achieved J M Fraser Gold honour roll for past 3 consecutive years.
2.	Must not have been a recipient in same Niche Award category in the last 3 years.
3.	Number of Boys is a minimum of 30 per year over last 3 years.
4.	Number of years of operating in niche area should be at least 3 consecutive years.

 

The objective of the Niche Awards is to spur BB Companies to excel in Niche Areas, in addition to doing well by winning the Gold Honour Roll for JM Fraser Awards for Excellence. These Awards would be presented at the BB Awards Presentation Ceremony 2010.
