Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Monthly Giving
1. How long would I need to wait before my GIRO application comes into effect?
It usually takes around 4 to 6 weeks for a GIRO application to be processed. The Boys' Brigade in Singapore will notify you when it has been approved, along with the effective date of the 1st deduction.
2. When will the GIRO deduction be made?
GIRO deductions will be made from your bank account on the 5th of every month. The amount deducted will be reflected in your bank statement. A monthly/yearly receipt will be sent to the mailing address that is indicated on the application form.
3. What happens if there are insufficient funds in my bank account
We will send you a letter to inform you and will offer other methods to make the donation for that month. We will terminate the GIRO arrangement if we are unable to make 2 consecutive monthly GIRO deductions. Do take note that some banks charge service fees for unsuccessful GIRO deductions due to insufficient funds. Please check with your bank for more details.
4. Can I arrange for another party to effect the GIRO arrangement through his/her bank account?
Yes, it is possible to do so, by stating his/her name and bank details on the GIRO form. Please also obtain the signature/thumbprint of the person on the form if he/she is paying on your behalf.
Note: For accounts operated via thumbprint, please take your NRIC/passport to your bank for the print to be taken and witnessed.
