The highly-anticipated adventure race for the Senior Programmes, BB Blaze 2017, was held on 8 April. 512 Boys in 120 teams from 59 Seniors Programme Companies had gathered at Gan Eng Seng Secondary School before daybreak on that day. This year, the race was held in the vicinity of the eastern part of Singapore.
The start point, Gan Eng Seng Secondary School, slowly filled with enthusiastic Boys for registration. Thereafter, they were directed to the holding area where they planned their routes for the race.
After a safety briefing and warm up session, the Boys were ready to dash off for the race! The race was flagged off by our Honorary President, LG (RET) Winston Choo alongside Brigade President, Mr Poh Leong Berg at 6.30am.
The Boys quickly took off to the civic district where Singapore’s historical, architectural and cultural heritage started. Here, they learnt more about local history as part of the requirements for the race.
The Boys then ran to Marina Barrage to collect their bikes for the next segment of the race.
The Boys were met with multiple challenge stations at East Coast Park. Team work and trust were the key elements at the station. First, the Boys had to build a flotation device (raft) using knotting skills learnt in their Adventure Badge lessons.
Next, the Boys had to overcome mini obstacles course elements.
We were privilege to have Mr Desmond Choo, Member of Parliament, Tampines GRC to grace our event. The Brigade Executive members hosted our Guest-of-Honour and provided an overview of the race this year.
The winner for BB Blaze this year is Team 112 from 94th Singapore Company in Nan Hua High School!
