The annual BB Character Quest is a competition where Boys can learn about moral principles and values, and apply them in engaging team activities.
676 Boys and 169 Marshals from 65 Seniors Programme Companies gathered at Victoria School on 14 September 2013 to battle it out for this year’s BB Character Quest Competition.
With the syllabus taken from 1 Samuel 16 to 2 Samuel 10 and 2 Samuel 15 to 2 Samuel 24, the Character Quest this year revolved around the theme of Reverence.
At the start of the competition, teams were gathered together to tackle a written test that consists of 15 Multiple Choice questions, 10 True/False questions, 5 Structured questions as well as some Fill-In-The-Blanks.
After lunch, teams proceeded to the Outdoor Segment where they were flagged off at 3 different areas according to their respective zones – Mount Gilboa, Valley of Elah and Jerusalem. There are a total of 24 stations, 8 stations per zone and here are some of the interesting games that Boys went through!
In the zone of Jerusalem, teams had to carry the “Ark of Covenant” that contained 5 can drinks stacked on top of each other placed inside the ark, through a designated route with various obstacles.
Look at how coordinated the team is!
“Helmet of Salvation” is one station that stood out in the zone of Mount Gilboa where teams had lots of fun tossing the ping pong balls onto the helmets with Velcro tapes attached that their team members are wearing. The more balls stuck on the helmet, the more points scored!
Teams have to try their best to get their team photo captured by the marshal while jumping in mid-air at the station, “In the Frame” in the zone, Valley of Elah. The more body parts captured in the photo, the more points earned!
Caught in action on the camera!
After a tiring day of fun-filled activities, teams were gathered back at the hall for a band performance by Forerunner from Cru Singapore before the prize presentation ceremony.
Vice-Chairman for this year’s BB Character Quest, Ms Philisa Neo gave her speech before a video highlights of the day’s activities was played.
We were also honoured to have our Guest-of-Honour, The Very Reverend Kuan Kim Seng, Dean of St. Andrew’s Cathedral, grace our event.
Dr Leonard Wee from Trinity Theological College was also present at the ceremony. Dr Wee received a token of appreciation for his assistance in formulating the test questions for the written paper. Mr Gordon Oei, a teacher of Victoria School, also received a token of appreciation on behalf of the school.
And the winner for the BB Character Quest (Seniors Programme) 2013 went to Team 105 from 60th Singapore Company!
