The 25th anniversary of The Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift project concluded with its closing ceremony held at Yishun Town Secondary School on 19 December 2012, graced by Dr Lim Wee Kiak, Member of Parliament for Nee Soon GRC, amongst many other Officers, volunteers, Boys’ and members of the media. The project ended on a positive note as it has been announced that we have reached our collection targets for this year. The chairman of this year’s project, Mr Lui Chong Chee, thanked the members of the public for their forthcoming donations in our cause to help the less fortunate. Mr Lui was thankful to the members of the public who continued to support this project in one way or another, be it donating food items, delivering our food hampers to our beneficiaries or in other ways which allowed this project to be successful this year.
Marking another milestone in the history of this project, this year’s closing ceremony included members of other uniformed groups (NCC (Land), NPCC, SJAB, Girl Guides) amongst our Boys’ who worked together to deliver food hampers and joy to our beneficiaries for the first time in this project’s history.
Growing from strength to strength, the scale of the Share-a-Gift project has increased over the years, reaching out to more of our beneficiaries. This year, we have successfully collected enough food and wishes donations to fulfil more than 30,285 wishes for our beneficiaries, a new record for the number of beneficiaries reached out to this year. Additionally, a higher number of members from the public supported in the deliveries of food hampers to the beneficiaries.
Thank you to all our volunteers, Officers, Boys’ and members of the public for making this project a success this year!
