BB CARES 28 Jul 12

The BB CARES (Community Activities Rallying Everyone to Serve) involves all BB Companies as they set aside a weekend to engage beneficiaries from various Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) for a day of fun-filled and meaningful activity.

BB CARES Anchor Event 2012

This year's BB CARES Anchor Event was held on 28 July 2012, at Gardens by the Bay. The participating VWOs in this year's anchor event included: Singapore Baptist Convention Golden Age Home, Christalite Methodist Home, AHUVA Good Shepherd, Boys' Town, All Saints Home (Hougang) and Whispering Hearts Student Care Centre.

We started the day with the tour of the conservatories namely the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. Both the elderly and children beneficiaries were looking forward to this tour as they are able to view flora and fauna that cannot typically be found in Singapore.

Apart from the tour, there was also balloon sculpting for the children beneficiaries. They had their fun with the twisting and turning of balloons into different sculptures. We appreciate the hard work done by 33J Singapore Company and we also thank them for involving Boys' parents, which is very much part of the objective of BB CARES, that is, to involve our stakeholders!

Our faithful volunteers from City Sunshine Club, dressed up in Red, arrived as early as 9:00 a.m. to help out in the befriending of the beneficiaries during the tour. City Sunshine Club is a Community Service Responsibility Group under City Developments Limited, one of our sponsors for this year's Anchor Event!

Brigade President, Mr Tan Kok Heng, alongside with our invited Guest-of-Honour, Dr Chia Shi-Lu, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency, acknowledged the effort that had been spent to reach out to the less fortunate in Singapore.

The Bagpipe Band from 27th Singapore Company and the Drill Squad from 94th Singapore Company gave amazing performances to entertain our guests. Rounding up the show was a captivated Magic Performance by Mr Chirstopher Aw, who was a BB Officer in the past!
