About 150 vehicles and more than 300 volunteers came together at Kallang Coach Bay on 10 Dec 2011 to deliver 2000 packed food hampers to about 700 individual homes of the beneficiaries.
This called for truck loads of food hampers to be prepared the day before, to ensure that the collection process for volunteers would be smooth.
As volunteers arrive in the morning of 10 Dec, they were greeted by our BB Boys, who loaded the items personally into their cars. About 200 BB Boys were on hand to assist in the operations.
The cars were then lined up as they readied for the mass flag off. The weather was fine and not rainy, making it smooth sailing for our volunteers in transporting the food items to the assigned beneficiaries.
The flag-off ceremony was led by Mr Tomas Urbanec, Chief Marketing and Partnerships Distribution Officer, Prudential Singapore. As the Presenting Sponsor, Prudential Singapore gathered around 90 cars of their agents and staff to help deliver the food hampers to the various beneficiaries.
Mr Tomas Urbanec was excited about today’s activity and impressed with the attitudes of his colleagues. He shared, “I am deeply honoured to be able to be part of this special project and experience the joy of sharing and caring towards the less fortunate. It was also encouraging to see the positive response from Prudential Singapore in joining the delivery of food hampers to the beneficiaries. We hope that though our little contribution today, we will be able to touch the lives of others.”
Involving the public in the delivery of food hampers makes the joy of giving even greater as the volunteers and beneficiaries get the chance to interact with one another face-to-face.
