The 4th Annual Pipes and Drums Learning Fiesta 2012
A record-breaking number of 100 Boys attended the BB Pipes & Drums Learning Fiesta held at Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) on 30 July 2012.
Held annually, the BB Pipes & Drums Learning Fiesta aims to:
- Appreciate each band's learning methods and culture
- Learn a new set of mass band tunes and to standardize it
- Allow band members to forge new friendship between different band companies
Upon registration, the Boys assembled at the Drama Theatre for the Opening Speech by Mr Poh Leong Berg, Chairman of the Pipe Band Committee. The Band Majors from the different Senior Pipe Bands then introduced themselves and their Band and gave a short sharing followed by singspiration and a short sharing by Mr David Leong, Officer of 18th Singapore Company and Mr William Goh, Captain of 58th Singapore Company.. 18th Singapore Company also performed a short showcase for the Junior Boys.
A round of games was led by 2 Primers, CLT Benedick Tham and CLT Derek Toh, from 12th Singapore Company to encourage the Senior and Junior Boys to interact with one another.
Boys were split into groups to hone their skills in pipes and drums and learn three sets of tunes for the year. Our Officers, Primers and leaders assisted in the instructing.
At the end of the Fiesta, the more advanced groups collectively performed the tunes they had learnt to play as one and showcased their skills and talents.
It was indeed an enjoyable time of fellowship and coming together for the various bands to exchange and learn new piping and drumming skills in order to strive for greater heights.
