Each year, The Boys’ Brigade in Singapore pays tribute to our elite Companies which have distinguished themselves based on stringent criteria that assess their standard of excellence in the area of administrative and operational efficiency. These elite Companies are conferred the J M Fraser Award for Excellence.

This prestigious award, which contributes to the schools’ attainment of the MOE Sustained Achievement Award, is named after our founder in Singapore, Mr James Milner Fraser. It is hoped that his distinguished name will spur BB Companies towards excellence in the areas of Company life and work.

The BB Awards Presentation Ceremony was held on Saturday, 24 April 2010, from 3.00 pm to 5.30 pm at Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School (Secondary), Agape Concert Hall. About 500 guests, including MOE Officials, School Principals, Officers and Boys from the BB Companies, were present to witness the event. 100 BB Companies were presented the J M Fraser Award for Excellence in appreciation of their administrative and operational efficiency.

The joyous occasion was graced by Mr S Iswaran, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Education.

The audience was also entertained by melodious performances by the Combined BB Pipe Band and the 93^rd Singapore Company Precision Drill Performance.

This year, we also presented a new award to BB Companies who have done exceptionally in their fields of specialization. 33J Singapore Company was awarded the Overseas Community Development Excellence Award for their involvement and commitment to the 3 schools in Yunnan, China. 18^th Singapore Company was awarded the Performing Arts Excellence Award for their comprehensive and structured programme that develops Boys with the necessary skills in the art of playing the bagpipe.

The BB Awards Presentation Ceremony was a fitting occasion to present the elite Companies to our supporters. Many Boys, volunteers, friends and supporters were also present to celebrate the achievement with our BB Companies. May we continue to spur on towards excellence!
